My journey into the American Girl world...

One year ago (12/22/2012), I was watching the Shaytards vlog. In this "episode", Mommytard (Colette Butler) was opening a package and them she showed two boxes: one American Girl doll for each of her daughters as a Christmas gift. In this moment, I started a journey into the American Girl world.
As many of you may know, I first saw the American Girl dolls in 2008 watching the TLC show Jon and Kate plus 8. But at that time, I don't had access to Internet in my house and it passed beaten. I just said to my mom: "One day I will go to this place! It's so cool! You can eat with your doll". I gave no importance to the dolls. I also vacantly have a memory that in 2011 I open the American Girl website, because I remember that I saw Kanani (Girl of the year of 2011) in the front page. After this, in February 2012, I subscribed to a YouTube channel called MyFroggyStuff and the owner of this channel have an American Girl doll and I thought, at that time, that they are ugly.

The Gosselin family in the American Girl Place New York

Some months later, when I saw Mommytard with those dolls, I remembered of them and started to search about them on google. I learned a lot of things about them. And them, after knowing all the history on Pleasant Company and then American Girl and all those dolls, I started to think that they aren't ugly too. The result was me getting, after many indecisions, My American Girl #55 (my look alike doll) in march 2013, in the New York American Girl Place (the trip did not happen because of it. It was already booked). I joined the Agplaythings forum, started to watch American Girl stop motions and also discovered that many other brazilian girl like the American Girl dolls. I'm very happy that I joined this family. It had been an amazing one year into this AG world. ;D

Hope you like to read my history in the AG world. See you next time. Bye! :D

Some videos...

Some weeks ago, I uploaded on my YouTube channel two speed drawing videos. The first one is a drawing of my American Girl doll, Annie. This one took about two hours to draw. It was so much fun to draw and I'm very happy with the result! Below we have the photos that are showed in the end of the video.

What do you think? Look similar? :D

Below is the first video!

A week after, I uploaded the Lalaloopsy Little Sprinkle Spice Cookie speed drawing video. This one was a bit faster to draw and took about one hour and a half. I liked a lot this drawing too, but I think that her head is a little flattened. Below we have too the photos that are in the end of the video.

And there is the video!

I hope you liked! Until next time! :D

American Girl Place in New York City

Located between the Fifth Avenue and the number 49 street are the American Girl Place, one house of one of the most popular dolls of United States of America. I had been there last month (March 2013) and I gonna talk a little bit about this dolls and this store.
The American Girl dolls was creaded by Pleasant Rowland that, after a visit to colonial Williamsburg thought that little girls might become interested in history through identifuing with dolls based on historic periods.
Then, in 1986, she founded the Pleasant Company, which manufactured the dolls, the books and the assessories. The company quickly grown and with that was created new dolls, books and clothes for dolls and for girls. The first three company dolls was Kirsten, Molly & Samantha. In 1998, Pleasant Rowland sold your company for Mattel, who is the current owner and manufacturer of American Girl dolls.
Currently the dolls are divided into five "categories": Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins, Historical Dolls, Girl of The Year and My American Girl.
Bitty Baby are dolls in baby format sold in 7 different models for little girls. The are sold at $55,00 each. Bitty Twins are dolls a little bit older (they aren't babies but they aren't big girls too) on site are sold in pairs and in 5 different ethnicities. On the site you can only buy the pair and they are sold at $115,00 each, but in the stores you can buy only one doll at $75,00 each.

The Historical Dolls are, like their name already said, dolls that represent some time of american history. There are 18 dolls, but just 13 are sold, because 5 were archived and are not sold by the American Girl. The collection includes dolls of the years of 1764 to 1974.
The Girl of The Year are dolls that are just sold in one year. Each year, since 2001, they launch a new doll with personality, characteristics and different hobby. This year the girls of the year is Saige, a red head girl, with freckles and blue eyes that loves arts and ride horses. They all have a story and some of them even have their film (some Historical Dolls too).

My American Girl is the current name for dolls that are similar to the owner. They was called of American Girl of Today and Just Like You. Are 40 models different. Those dolls, different of Historical Dolls and of Girls of The Year, don't came with a book. They came with a code that allows the child to enter a virtual world through the InnerstarU web site.

The Historical Dolls, Girls of The Years and My American Girl are sold at $110,00 each. Aside and above we have photos of storefronts of My American Girl dolls, where you can choose the most similar to the girl.
After buying her doll, what would you buy? Sure! Outfits! There are clothes for dolls and for girls. The price of these products is not very pleasant. Most clothing for the dolls cost from $20,00 to $40,00 and girls clothes cost between $40.00 to $60.00. These outfits are separated into two "categories": one is for Bitty Baby and Bitty Twins and their owners (north american size 3 to 7) the other is for the American Girl (Historical Dolls, & My Girl of the Year American Girl) and their owners (north american size 6 to 20). Besides the clothes and dolls are sold shoes, books, accessories for doll care, beds, tables and chairs, pets, among others. All of these things for the dolls.

After this long explanation about the dolls and their accessories, I'll talk a little bit about the store. The New York store opened in 2003 and is the second American Girl store. Besides this store there are over 14 stores store across the United States. The New York store is very beautiful and very big. It has three floors plus a mezzanine.
On the first floor is all of My American Girl stuff and three small sections in the lobby: a souvenir, another girl of the Year and one of a Historical doll. On the mezzanine has a small part of the Girl of the Year and the bathrooms, which is also worth a visit. On the second floor is all part of the Historical Dolls plus AG Avenue, which where is the salon for dolls, hospital, shirts factory, among others. The third and last floor is where are the section of Bitty Baby and Bitty Twin and the Cafe, where the girl can eat with your doll, or a doll from the store,  that lends, if the girl don't have one. You can see the map with details of the New York store by clicking here.

To finish I will talk about these souvenirs that are sold at the store. In the store, all products sold on the website are sold there too, and also you can buy souvenirs that are shirts for the girl and the doll which is written in American Girl Place New York, jeans for the dolls, among others. These products have cheapest prices: Most cost between $8,00 and $24,00.
Well, this is it for today. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading. And if you want to read more posts about the American Girl dolls and American Girl Place subscribe this blog.
